MEET DEKEN LETINICH

A champion for Southwest Washington.

Born and raised in a three generation Clark County family, Deken Letinich knows that when workers and working families get the investments they deserve, then we all get ahead. Deken found his calling advocating for his union’s members and Southwest Washington workers. In 2018, he was Southwest Washington’s Labor Council Union Member of the Year. In 2024, Deken successfully advocated on behalf of working families for increased workplace safety and improving access to healthcare products on worksites.

We are at a time in our nation where politics is too much about finger-pointing and yelling at the other side. Deken believes in order to be a successful Representative for Southwest Washington in the State Capitol, it is like any other jobsite – you have to work together to get the job done. Deken will work with Democrats and Republicans to deliver results for Southwest Washington.

As State Representative, Deken will prioritize that Southwest Washington gets infrastructure and maintenance dollars out of the capital budget, which provide family-wage jobs and keep our roads in great condition so we can travel to where we need to be: jobs, schools, grocery stores and everywhere in between. Like many Southwest Washingtonians, Deken worries about keeping our neighborhoods safe for our children and families. It is clear we need appropriate and necessary funding of our police, firefighters and emergency medical professionals.

Raised in a union family with deep Clark County roots, Deken Letinich is a champion for Southwest Washington and all that it has to offer working families. In 2003, Deken met his wife Jamie. With their first child on the way, Deken started as a union Laborer at job sites all around Clark County. When raising their own family, Deken and his wife, Jamie, struggled to afford childcare while working. Deken knows that we must do more to support working families and we should always be looking for opportunities to improve our quality of life and opportunities to succeed.

Deken, Jamie, Dave, and Ava (when visiting from University of Washington where she is a freshman) live in Vancouver with their dog, Rizzo. When not working, campaigning or taking care of the kids, Deken and his family love to travel, kayak, hike and do family movie nights. Deken and Jamie are avid fans of Pearl Jam, which Dave and Ava tolerate with good humor.
